Another Expert Agrees With Dark Comet Theory

February 21, 2013 – 11:31 am | No Comment

Astronomer David Asher (from Armagh University) has agreed with Bill Napier and Janaki Wickramasinghe (Cardiff University) that “dark comets” are real and dangerous.
The following quotes are from a paper by Napier and Asher published in Astronomy & Geophysics.

We know that about one bright comet (of absolute magnitude as bright as 7, comparable to Halley’s Comet) arrives in the visibility zone (perihelion q<5AU, say) each year from the Oort cloud. It seems to be securely established that ~1–2% of these are captured into Halleytype (HT) orbits. The dynamical lifetime of a body in such an orbit can be estimated, from which the expected number of HT comets is perhaps ~3000. The actual number of active HT comets is ~25. This discrepancy of at least two powers of 10 in the expected impact rate from comets as deduced from this theoretical argument on the one hand, and observations on the other, is …

Visit Mexico Post-2012

Visit Mexico Post-2012

Mexico is packed full of tourists for the next few months, strange folk drawn to the homeland of an apocalyptic prophecy, at the time the doomsday is meant to occur. If they didn’t believe it was special, they wouldn’t be there…
But next year it will be relatively quiet, and visiting Mayan sites will be just as special. And don’t worry about missing the End of The World – by reckoning you’ll still be in the danger zone until June 2013.

If you have watched Ancient Aliens then you know David Hatcher Childress. To really know him, read his Lost Cities series of books.
This tour looks like a nice middle-ground – not too obvious, not too extreme, and well looked after.

Pythagoras Conference Update

Pythagoras Conference Update

Organizer Sandra D. Sabatini has put out a press release, that is quite long-winded and is full of conspiracy reasons for why the conference has been cancelled at the last minute. She says:

as if invisible minds and hands had declared our conference unworthy, even dangerous to the public
This is not intended, directly or indirectly, as an indictment of official government for a suppression we are now learning is being carried out by officially connected rogue but emotionally disconnected individuals from the sum total of all of us – not just in this country. We are also now learning through the grapevine in the USA that those executing this operation are yet unidentified former intelligence and military officers.
suppression of the freedom of speech of specific individual presenters at the conference
a well-planned and intelligently executed campaign laid out most likely months in advance

Near the end of the press release is what actually occurred:
Why …

Pythagoras Conference Cancelled

Pythagoras Conference Cancelled

I had been debating whether I should go to this year’s Pythagoras Conference. While I’m not that into New Age takes on 2012, it would have been a a great excuse to visit Kentucky. In my book I have nominated it as the place to be (in America) when the SHTF, yet I haven’t actually been there. Plus I like the TV series Justified…

News just in – the event has been cancelled, just days before it was supposed to happen. It is unusual for such a big event to be cancelled at the last minute, so it will be interesting to find out the reason why.
Kerry Cassidy says all tickets will be refunded – but some people might already be on their way.

Bizarre: Skeptics Cashing in on 2012

I’m a skeptic at heart, but when things pass by BS detector I can be a believer of sorts. So while I dismiss Planet X, I believe there could be a scientific basis to the Long Count calendar. If I were to devote my time to writing about skeptical topics, I’d try to avoid saying things like:

Previous end of the world predictions have failed, so therefore so will this one (terrible logic)
2012 authors are just in it for the money (biased opinion)

Regarding the latter, it is something I have been regularly accused of – despite spending thousands of hours operating a forum that costs me money to run, and selling a book at the cheapest price I can (Survive 2012 at Amazon UK is just £3.67 with free shipping). I do run ads on my websites, but it is mostly to offset costs rather than get rich. For example, 2012 …

Belize 2012 Festival… with a twist!

Belize 2012 Festival… with a twist!

If you haven’t come across KickStarter yet, the concept is simple – people pledge $$ towards a project. If it reaches its funding goal, the project goes ahead, they take your money, and you get a predetermined gift or product. Sometimes it works amazingly well. I’ve actually helped fund movies and books, in return for a copy and sometimes my name in the credits – it’s a rewarding feeling.
I can’t see this one taking off, but make up your own mind:

$412 per person for a Dec 21 celebration 3-day festival in Belize
After the festival, everyone owns a share of the 54-acres of waterfront property

i propose three days of festival – december 20th 21st and 22nd. on 54 acres of incredible land. global music. artists. performers. speakers. filmmakers. comedians. bonfires and laughter under the moon. ceremony at cerros maya temple site.
and here is the best part. after the festival you will …

Preppers Conference in Sweden

Preppers Conference in Sweden

This is a strange little conference. It’s run by a reasonably big and serious security organization, but the conference is quite small (and affordable).
EPCO is the first Pan-European Conference and EXPO of it’s kind. The event is hosted by the Institute of Swedish Safety & Security. The event is privileged to have some of the most highly respected, and knowledgeable, speakers on self-reliance,  preparedness and sensible survival. Speakers will present thoughts, ideas and solutions for a rapidly changing world and the potential risks and challenges it presents. The event focuses on how to prepare rather than the “what and when”.
The two headline guest speakers are prominent YouTube preppers from the USA – David Kobler (SouthernPrepper1) and Scott Hunt (Engineer775). Topics include water, food storage & growing, shelter, retreats & networking, heating, light, alternative energy & fuel, medical, safety & security and communications.

CPAK 2012, California, October

CPAK 2012, California, October

There have been quite a few conferences in recent years that appeal to 2012ers. They have mostly featured New Age authors, but a few concentrate on real science being used to solve ancient riddles. And given the Mayan Long Count calendar is an ancient riddle, this conference might be worth a look:
8th Annual CPAK
Conference on Precession and Ancient Knowledge
October 5-7, 2012
Rancho Mirage, California

Robert Bauval
Christopher Dunn
Oana R. Ghiocel
Hugh Newman
Robert Schoch
Jason Martell
Don Cerow
Gregory Sams
Dr. Carmen Boulter
Walter Cruttenden

If you register now the cost is $395 + accommodation. It will rise to $495 after July 31.
And just there days later is the Pythagoras Conference in Kentucky. The idea of flying over to both is very appealing to me…
