Articles in New Age
Of course we are grateful that the fateful Dec 21, 2012 day wasn’t (as far as I can tell) marked by a single pointless death. The downside is that Peter Gersten has good cause for being embarrassed. Back in 2011 I reported on his crazy plans for a Sedona death leap:
Most of you will think that I am delusional and that my insane act will certainly result in my death. Death is inevitable – at least nowadays – and 100 years from now it won’t matter whether I died in 2012 or 2013 or even 2020. But I believe that some type of cosmic portal will be opening at that time and place and that an opportunity will present itself. I fully expect that it will either lead to the next level of this cosmic program; freedom from an imprisoning time-loop; a magical Martian-like bubble; or something equally as exotic.
Here’s the result:
There are two sad cases of tabloid journalism on Australian TV: A Current Affair and Today Tonight. Unless you are a master of not providing a half-sentence that can be taken out of context, they are best avoided. Especially when it comes to crazy topics like 2012.
I’ve turned them down… but I’ve not minded being involved with Sunday Night (didn’t happen) and The Project (should air next Tuesday).
So, with few 2012ers willing to talk to Today Tonight, they ended up interviewing these whack jobs:
Just like most small towns, you’ll find a supermarket, three pubs, a chemist, a bank, a newsagent and a handful of cafes. But Allora is also the base for the Earth Mother Emissary Council and its devoted group of followers who are busily preparing for the end of the world as we know it.

My take from this brief story is that the members of the …
If you are interested in the New Age areas of 2012, especially spiritual evolution – but you prefer science over channeled alien messages – then I can recommend Spontaneous Evolution by Bruce Lipton and Steve Bhaerman.
Check out a real study they describe:
Japanese children allergic to a poison ivy-like plant took part in an experiment where a leaf of the poisonous plant was rubbed onto one forearm. As a control, a nonpoisonous leaf resembling the toxic plant was rubbed on the other forearm. As expected almost all of the children broke out in a rash on the arm rubbed with the toxic leaf and had no response to the imposter leaf.
What the children did not know was that the leaves were purposefully mislabeled. The negative thought of being touched by the poisonous plant led to the rash produced by the nontoxic leaf! In the majority of cases, no rash resulted from …
Vice magazine, with 900,000 readers, has a target audience of college students. So it is not surprising that they have published some articles regarding the 2012 meme (I was interviewed for their article about the types of people who hangout at 2012 forum). This week they have an article that shows just how wacky New Age 2012 gurus can get.
While many are looking forward to the “galactic alignment”on Dec 21, today’s solar eclipse is – according to Amorah Quan Yin – in alignment with the constellation Pleiades.
That’s fine by me – perhaps there is something to astrology. But the thing is, Amorah Quan Yin is “channel for the Pleiadian Emissaries of Light, Sirian Archangelic League of the Light, Andromedan Emissaries of Light, Ascended Masters, Intergalactic Federation of Light, and others, and founder of Pleiadian Lightwork – Dolphin Star Temple.” So it’s probably not just an alignment!
According to Amroah (the Pleiadian …
OK, fess up – if you believe in 2012 to any degree then you are one of the above. You might be a mix of two or even all three, but one will be where your core 2012ism comes from.
One of the easiest ways to determine your key aspect is to ask yourself how you will react if a massive EOTW event does not occur on Dec 21 2012:
New Age – typically you will claim any good news or miracle (like a lost dog finding its owner). Most likely you have already spotted indications of the changes ahead. A lack of a major event this December won’t matter, for you will say that the change has just begun – but it might take a while. Your positivity will be continual.
Prepper – 2012 is an excuse to step up your preparations. If nothing happens, no matter – you know deep down …
I have a lot of respect for Rupert Sheldrake, and his work is scientifically valid, yet it is mostly mentioned in the realms of New Age. This is a shame because I feel he could hold the key to evolution without realizing the extra factor involved.
Essential to Sheldrake’s model is the hypothesis of morphic resonance. This is a feedback mechanism between the field and the corresponding forms of morphic units. The greater the degree of similarity, the greater the resonance, leading to habituation or persistence of particular forms. So, the existence of a morphic field makes the existence of a new similar form easier.
Sheldrake proposes that the process of morphic resonance leads to stable morphic fields, which are significantly easier to tune into. He suggests that this is the means by which simpler organic forms synergetically self-organize into more complex ones, and that this model allows a different explanation for the process of evolution …
As a child I had a few recurring dreams. One of them could’ve been a nightmare but wasn’t.
I was standing in the front yard of my home in cookie-cutter suburb. My parents and siblings were with me, and all the other families of the street were in their own front yards. Everybody was looking up, at the fireballs that were falling to Earth, crashing around us. We all just passively watched them fall.
The movie 2012 had a scene in which they are fleeing Yellowstone in a RV as fire bombs rain down around them (see video). Those fire bombs are precisely what I had dreamed of all those years ago – although back then my young imagination thought they were little meteors.
Many people have dreams about disasters, including the end of the world. Some people have been introduced to the 2012 meme because the year was mentioned in their …
I’ve been reporting over at 2012 News about Bugarach (France), where many 2012ers and UFO fans are allegedly gathering. So many in fact that the mayor of the small village has complained, and a government agency is warning about 2012 sects building bunkers in the area. It smells like a publicity stunt to me…
Apart from the publicity, I’ve not been able to verify that Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment is setting up camp in Bugarach. They do have connections with 2012:
The movie made by Ramtha disciples, What the Bleep Do We Know?!, features Miceal Ledwith, and he has a 2012 product out, 2013: Alignment With Chaos
JZ Knight, who is the channel for Ramtha, mentions 2012 frequently, but seemingly with no specifics, because she is warning of times to come
Ramtha recently shared this information via Knight:
“Where you are sitting right now [London] in one night will be covered in ice. When will …
For me there are four 2012 angles:
1) Scientific, with some connection to reality
2) Scientific, but seemingly just made up
3) New Age, sounds nice, but purely based on faith
4) New Age, making false claims of having a scientific basis
In general, I don’t mind the faith-based New Age 2012 ideas. They tend to be harmless, the proponents don’t seem to be cash-grabbing, and they are hard to disprove. Typically they use words like ascension, light-workers, dimensions, vibrations, planes and so on. But this one caught my eye as being particularly bad (you need to be a member of their social network to read it…):
AN ASCENSION IN CONSCIOUSNESS BEGINS IN JAPAN
You will read for yourself how there are two worlds living simultaneously, almost like parallel dimensions, which is what may happen to all of us soon….. This email is proof that we are on our way! I am in Awe!
…There are strange parallel …
According to a study conducted by the Roper Organisation in 1991 (see Supernatural, Graham Hancock, pages 362-363, 408), 2% of Americans describe experiences that suggest they have been abducted by aliens. Parallel with this is the ability of 2% of people to become a shaman – either naturally or via hallucinogenic drugs. According to Hancock, and I’m sold on this theory, they are one in the same thing – an ability to see what others do not, to see things that are either hidden behind a veil, or are part of a collective imagination.
If I need more convincing, this news item about time-space synaesthesia succeeds:
Two per cent of readers may be surprised to discover that they are members of an elite group with the power to perceive the geography of time…
…”In general, these individuals perceive months of the year in circular shapes, usually just as an image inside their mind’s eye,” …”These …
Written in a blog, Jan, 2008:
…the Mayan cosmology forecasts that the world capitalist system will begin its final collapse in November of 2007. As a political astrologer, I would want to add that the planetary configurations that mark the heavens in the years circa 2012 bear a strong resemblance to the configurations that began with 1929 and lasted through the 1930’s, before finally opening out into the titanic victory of World War Two and the Chinese revolution.
SO, it’s juts astrology then, regardless of who was charting the stars.
Welcome to an ever-increasing trend towards co-opting ancient Mayans and the 2012 meme to suit one’s own cause or philosophy.
