Survivalists in Florida

Great article in the Miami New Times last week, profiling preppers and survivalists like these folk:
Jorge Villa – after a terrifying experience during Hurricane Andrew he devised his own bunkers, and sells them to folk – some of whom are worried about the end of the Mayan calendar – via his business U.S. Bunkers
Neal Wiseman – moderates a group called the South Florida Survivalist Network, and has a year’s worth of food stored for his family, should the need arise:

Chris Petrovich – prepper for 25 years. He has helped others “cache extra fuel and food, stashed in public-storage units and underground, at intervals on an 800-to-1,200-mile path out of Florida. Amid darkness and chaos, skirting burning sugarcane fields and accidents and roadblocks, they’ll drive from cache to cache toward a secret inland hiding spot, exhausting the last available remnants of the petroleum age.”

Leader of the Post-2012 World – Last Chance to Play!

The (Sony movie tie-in) contest ends in a few days, but it’s not too late to join in:http://www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org/election/
Tip: don’t use any browser other than IE – games can crash and therefore you are unable to complete them. I’m hoping that it won’t affect my chances too much, perhaps cost me 1500 points before I switched browsers…
I managed between 12K and 15K points. I’m kinda lucky that the type of person this contest is biased towards is myself – I’m good at those types of puzzles (my IQ is way higher than my real-world intelligence), and for the knowledge section I used to work for Google, searching for stuff, and I’ve been promoting the idea of a 2012 pole shift for 9 years now…
I’d like to think I’m a contender. However, how many people have entered? One thousand or one hundred thousand? Thirty-three? Impossible to say.

Post-2012 Leader Contest from Sony

Adding to their promotions for the blockbuster movie 2012, to be released on November 13, is a contest starting today that is looking for someone to rule the post-2012 world. It’s not for real, of course – the winner actually receives a trip for two to Cancun in Mexico. Twelve runners-up each get a Playstation 3.
Finalists will be decided on how well they score in 4 contests each week, and it runs for four weeks, for a total of 16 online tests. Contestants can improve their score a little by having advocates – basically a vote from a fellow contestant. If you follow this link you can vote for me
Otherwise, just head over to TheIHC.com for more info.
