Geryl and ETAP Cross-Promote
I’m not keen on the idea of using a boat to survive 2012. The idea has been promoted by 2012er Patrick Geryl, although he gets “very easily seasick” and will be choosing a bunker instead. Although a boat might be “unsinkable”, there’s also the factor of where your boat ends up. The top of Mt Ararat was supposedly fine by Noah but it wouldn’t suit me at all!
ETAP yachts, the brand endorsed by Geryl, have been through some financial difficulties, and it seems have ceased building their special yachts – but they have now reciprocated Geryl’s recommendations by mentioning his theories, and 2012, on their website.
According to BusinessWeek, the home page for ETAP was recently all about 2012, but that has now changed to a link to further info.
Solar Pole Imbalance Mystery
Our Sun operates on a cycle that takes roughly 11 years to complete. While the key indicator for when the cycle is at its peak is the number of sun spots, the root cause is the reversal of the Sun’s magnetic poles. And for some reason that scientists cannot explain, the Sun’s poles are currently out of step with each other:
“Right now, there’s an imbalance between the north and the south poles,” Jonathan Cirtain, NASA’s project scientist for a Japanese solar mission called Hinode, in a recent article on NASA’s website. “The north is already in transition, well ahead of the south pole, and we don’t understand why.”

Bacteria Release in Boston Subway
This story has been appearing on conspiracy sites this week:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has announced a series of biological tests that they will be conducting in subway systems near Boston. DHS will be releasing bacteria into the MBTA tunnels, in what they say are tests to evaluate sensors installed in the tunnel system.
DHS officials insist that the bacteria release, a dead bacteria called B-subtilis, will have no adverse health risks on healthy individuals. What this means for people with compromised immune systems isn’t known, DHS hasn’t publicly commented on that.

SWAT Team Storms Private Bunker
The anti-survivalist actions of some authorities in the USA are getting much worse. In recent times we have seen the malicious use of zoning laws to thwart survival plans, and we have seen many of things survivalists do listed as suspicious (in a terrorism way). This most recent news is of special concern for anyone who has a private bunker:
After getting dressed Mr. Del Rio went and opened his front door. He was immediately bum rushed by the Austin Police Department’s SWAT Team and then detained and interrogated for over 10 hours.
His crime: on his property was an old Cold War bunker that Mr. Del Rio had converted into a workshop.

The Bunker of Dead Survivalist Peter Keller
Peter Keller had been preparing for “the end of the world” since 2004, when he began constructing his North Bend, WA bunker. It is located deep in steep, wooded terrain. And he was very cautious and careful so that it would not be found:

Dec 21, 2012: The Darkest Day
What if the end date of the ancient Mayan Long Count calendar was not meant to be taken literally?
The first question you need to ask is this: Dec 21 is also the Winter Solstice (in the northern hemisphere) – the darkest day of the year, so it is a coincidence or deliberate?
The second question is, if the date is deliberate, then why?
If there is a scientific basis to the Long Count calendar, if it is ultimately reflecting a scientific prediction, then there are still more questions:
Is there anything about a Winter Solstice than can cause a catastrophe?
Could an ancient culture predict a catastrophe, thousands of years away, accurate to a single day?
Or is Dec 21, 2012 a symbolic date for a scientific prediction for approximately Dec 2012?

Magnetic Field & the GPS of Pigeons
Certain neurons in pigeon brains encode the direction and intensity of Earth’s magnetic field, providing the common birds with an internal global positioning system, according to a new study.
The findings in the study, published in the latest Science Express, likely apply to other birds as well.
“We have found cells in the (pigeon) brain that signal the direction, intensity and polarity of an applied magnetic field,” co-author David Dickman, a Baylor College of Medicine neuroscientist, told Discovery News. “These three qualities can be used by the brain to compute heading information, like a compass, and latitude on the Earth surface (location between the magnetic North and South Poles).”

I’m normally quite dismissive of YouTube when it comes to 2012 information. Although there are many thousands of videos about 2012, the majority are from faceless, nameless authors presenting unverifiable information – which only leads to more confusion on the topic. The other side of 2012 is where, once you have a pet theory of what will happen, you start preparing to survive. And that is the area that YouTube serves well. Fukushima Radiation in the USA – Really?
Just in case you were falling for the radiation scaremongering… you might have noticed that the mainstream media have not reported on this, and I can’t see how you could suggest it is a “conspiracy”. Reality… it’s a non-story, despite what you may read:

Another Promising Radiation Cure
The combination of two existing drugs kept 80% of tested mice alive after being exposed to radiation. While many more tests are needed, stockpiling this combo could one day save millions of lives.
Mice exposed to radiation were administered a combination of the antibiotic fluoroquinolone and a synthetic version of the immune system protein BPI. While such radiation exposure would normally prove fatal for mice within thirty days, 80% of those treated with both agents were still alive a month later. Giant Swedish Sinkhole
I’m still not sure if there is any signifiance to all these sinkholes that are making the news these days. And this one, well it’s in a mining area. But you’d think that the mining 600 metres below wouldn’t cause a sinkhole, although perhaps explosions could? Anyway – I wouldn’t want to be living in one of the nearby homes.
