Another Expert Agrees With Dark Comet Theory

Astronomer David Asher (from Armagh University) has agreed with Bill Napier and Janaki Wickramasinghe (Cardiff University) that “dark comets” are real and dangerous.
The following quotes are from a paper by Napier and Asher published in Astronomy & Geophysics.

We know that about one bright comet (of absolute magnitude as bright as 7, comparable to Halley’s Comet) arrives in the visibility zone (perihelion q<5AU, say) each year from the Oort cloud. It seems to be securely established that ~1–2% of these are captured into Halleytype (HT) orbits. The dynamical lifetime of a body in such an orbit can be estimated, from which the expected number of HT comets is perhaps ~3000. The actual number of active HT comets is ~25. This discrepancy of at least two powers of 10 in the expected impact rate from comets as deduced from this theoretical argument on the one hand, and observations on the other, is …

Solar Power Generator / Survival Properties For Sale

It looks like a photocopier…

But it is a generator. It’s just missing a fuel tank, motor, fumes and noise. According to Hammacher Schlemmer this $2000 unit is silent and emission free. It is powered a 1250-watt battery, fed by two 30-watt solar panels. Additional panels cost $240 each

When fully charged (20 hours of direct sunlight, so 2-3 sunny days), the generator can power:

  • a refrigerator for up to four days
  • a television for 35 hours
  • a laptop for up to 30 hours

As you can see, it is certainly multi-use. Work, leisure and sustenance are all covered by their examples. In a survivalist situation you’d want more panels – four would mean you could keep a fridge running all through summer. A second generator could be used for all your other appliances that do not need to be on all the time. (I know, it is getting expensive…)

Another beautiful aspect of this equipment is that the silence helps keep your location secret. I bet the hum of a regular generator would be music to the ears of looters.

In other news…

The best website for survival property listings is SurvivalRealty.com. But now there’s a new service from Survivalist magazine. Their property for sale section will hopefully we well received by their subscribers (and everyone else).
