Earthquake Alert: Lunar Eclipse on Saturday

According to my research, the five days either side of a lunar eclipse are twice as likely to have a major earthquake – the type that cause deaths and appear on the evening news. We haven’t a major one for a while, so conditions are ripe, especially seeing as it is a total eclipse.
Western Australia just had a 5.1 quake, near the Murion Islands. Cornwall in the UK had a 2.2 quake, which is small but big news for them.
Quakes of magnitude 6.5+ occur on average once a week, yet the last was more than 2 weeks ago. Combined with the knowledge that within 4 days of a lunar eclipse we are almost twice as likely to receive a 7.5+ quake, we could be in for a big one.
There seems to be an air of expectancy in your article almost as if you want a ‘Quake to happen to kind of prove your deductions right. Which begs the question–Will you write another article if one of consequnce does not happen? Explaining how you got your calculations wrong, how we shouldn’t really be scare-mongering just for the sake of it. Most definitely not because “no news is not good news” for your blog.
Eclipses are known to cause chaos on Earth…especially Earthquakes.
And especially Lunar eclipses (negative), and I would rather have a heads up than not be prepared. I already know about what Eclipses cause,…but some people are not aware and could appreciate a little warning. Look how many we have had in the past few years! Thanks Rob!

I certainly don’t want bad quakes to happen, just like I wish for 2012 to be uneventful. Few people would wish to be proven correct if others suffered.
Twice as likely doesn’t mean one will happen for sure – just like me saying on Tuesday’s you are twice as likely to be hit by lightning…
But if there is something geological about to happen in 2012, increased earthquake activity could be a sign.
