This study mentioned the possibility of tsunami-waves up to 10.2 meters. Officials of the department at the company&#8217;s headquarters insisted that such a risk was unrealistic and did not take the prediction seriously. [<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fukushima_Daiichi_nuclear_disaster#Safety_history\">Wikipedia<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pearl Harbor<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0As the Japanese military pressed its war in China, concern over Japan&#8217;s intentions caused the U.S. to begin taking defensive measures. On February 1, 1933, the U.S. Navy staged a mock attack on the base at Pearl Harbor as part of a preparedness exercise. The attack &#8220;succeeded&#8221; and the defense was deemed a &#8220;failure&#8221;. [<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pearl_Harbor#Sunday.2C_December_7.2C_1941\">Wikipedia<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li><strong>9\/11<\/strong> &#8211; multiple warnings earlier in 2001 that Al Qaeda were planning aircraft hijackings in the USA [<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/September_11_attacks_advance-knowledge_debate#Intelligence_warnings\">Wikipedia<\/a>]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>The disasters listed above are well-known but far from being the only examples. I could add asbestos, thalidomide, cigarettes and so on. Routinely we have been told that governments and scientists have assessed a situation or scenario, and we have nothing to be concerned about. Sometimes, in the case of war, they were guilty of lying via omission &#8211; there was a kink in their armor, they just neglected to tell us. But ultimately we have been repeatedly lied to regarding our safety.<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/survive2012.com\/news\/2012\/09\/amazing-solar-eruption-pic-3979.html\/sun-explosion\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3980\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3980\" title=\"sun-explosion\" src=\"http:\/\/survive2012.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/sun-explosion.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I recently had a lengthy dialog with a respected TV news journalist regarding the risks of solar storms. Specifically how I have connected such with 2012 and the ancient Mayan calendar. Despite providing solid references (including a report commissioned by NASA), he has decided not to run the story &#8211; because his NASA contact told him the worst case scenario was loss of power of just one week. Disastrous, but survivable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I don&#8217;t blame NASA<\/strong> &#8211; they shouldn&#8217;t be scaring people, it isn&#8217;t their role. But lying about the risks is unfair to the citizens they work for.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I don&#8217;t blame the journalist<\/strong> &#8211; to do the story justice and fully understand it would take perhaps a week of research. That&#8217;s too expensive for a 3 minute news item.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a shame. \u00a0People like me warned about the inadequate protections of New Orleans and Fukushima, but they didn&#8217;t reach a large enough audience to make a difference.
