The question of a 2012 doomsday throws up numerous responses, but typically:<\/p>\n

It’s all Mumbo jumbo<\/li>\n
If I die, I die, whatever…<\/li>\n
My religion doesn’t factor in such a thing<\/li>\n
I’m too old to care<\/li>\n
I’d be embarrassed to be connected to a movement that failed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The reality is that sooner or later, a culture (if it lasts) will face a physical disaster. Indisputable!<\/p>\n
So, what could go wrong?<\/p>\n
- Power Grid Failure<\/strong> – via solar storm, acknowledged by NASA. Way more serious than it first sounds. And ancient cultures might have tracked low latitude auroras.<\/li>\n
- Flu Pandemic<\/strong> – wasn’t a complete tragedy previously because it caught people unawares. These days, nobody will leave their homes = a peculiar disintegration of society.<\/li>\n
- Mini-Ice-Age<\/strong> – despite all the alarms of a global warming, the Sun is suggesting it will be quiet for a very long time.<\/li>\n
- Self-fulfilled Prophecy<\/strong> – virtually every religion has powerful men <\/em>who are actively wishing for a religious apocalypse, and might have the power to at least try and make it real.<\/li>\n
- Return of a Long Period Comet<\/strong> – quite unlikely, and even if an ancient culture predicted it, would be mighty unlikely to come true. Still, such a\u00a0marvelous\u00a0sight would put modern folk in their place.<\/li>\n
- WW3 <\/strong>– too many countries with crazy male leaders – always a possibility, but the southern hemisphere should be immune.<\/li>\n
- Acceleration <\/strong>– we are on the verge of creating any type of life we choose…<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
