\nThe idea that a comet caused a global catastrophe 13,000 years ago was popularized by the 2006 book The Cycles of Cosmic Catastrophes by Firestone, West and Warwick-Smith. The few mistakes that could be found in their evidence-filled book were seized upon by academics. Their evidence included spherules and nanodiamonds. On pages 223\/224 they tell of a 3,400 pound meteorite \u00a0that was discovered wrapped in a ceremonial burial cloth. And they share an ancient Toltec\/Aztec tale about a rain of meteorites that caused 25 years of darkness. It is suggested that they are\u00a0referring\u00a0to this very same event.
