Alerts for keywords like <em>2012 cult<\/em> or <em>survival bunker<\/em> provide so many new results each day Google only shows me the best. My alert for <em>dark comet<\/em> is particularly disappointing. Aside from results to do with what I suspect is a hacking tool with the same name, I cannot recall when I last saw information on the topic.<\/p>\n<p>Two years ago there was a flurry of info, all resulting from the one <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulo.ucl.ac.uk\/obsmag\/annual_index\/Observatory-Index-2005.pdf\">scientific paper<\/a> back in 2005:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Swathes of dark comets may be prowling the solar system, posing a deadly threat to Earth [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/mg20126954.800-dark-comets-may-pose-threat-to-earth.html\">New Scientist<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>Comets could be the most significant impact hazard to Earth, with sky surveys underestimating the number that are potentially devastating by a factor of between 10 and 100 [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmosmagazine.com\/node\/2578\">Cosmos Magazine<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>Because it does not glow, a dark comet on collision course with the Earth could easily escape detection until disaster looms.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-1142407\/Thousands-unseen-dark-comets-collision-course-Earth-warn-experts.html#ixzz1WnKjLijZ\"> [Daily Mail]<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I looked into the possible connections between comets and the Long Count calendar and found a candidate that could be due any time now, and could be dark &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/survive2012.com\/index.php\/comet-caesar.html\">Comet Caesar<\/a>. It even made the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hardevidencemagazine.com.au\/HEVol.10-1.html\">cover<\/a> of a magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>nothing<\/strong><\/span>. No cable TV shock documentary. No governmental inquiry. No further (published) research.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a reminder of the idea:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comets are visible due to light reflecting off surface ice<\/li>\n<li>With each orbit of the Sun, whenever they pass close to the Sun, some ice melts<\/li>\n<li>Eventually, there is no ice, and the comet becomes virtually invisible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not just a theory. It is believed that a dark comet took out a satellite. One of these critters could be heading for Earth, even a city, right now, and nobody will see it coming.
