Just as 2012 is a great excuse to prepare for the great array of potential catastrophes, it also gives one license to get things done. Here&#8217;s an idea of what my list would encompass:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit the ancient monuments of the world &#8211; <em>especially pyramids<\/em>. Bizarrely the only pyramid I have seen is one of the least known (in Samoa). Like many things on this list, family and work take priority &#8211; I simply can&#8217;t disappear for 3 months. And as a responsible parent, visiting Egypt right now would not be wise&#8230; but Xian, China could work, maybe a quick week?<\/li>\n<li>Streak. I&#8217;m nudist-curious and have dabbled. Combined with my love of alternative music, the <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/K4hEy0CgJpo\">Meredith Gift<\/a> is local and achievable.<\/li>\n<li>Record an album, utilizing modern backing track technology, casks of wine and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Auto-Tune\">Auto-Tune<\/a>. A good opportunity to let out my 2012 angst.<\/li>\n<li>Tour my book\/ideas to small venues.<\/li>\n<li>Instigate a survivalism conference &#8211; there haven&#8217;t been enough of these, and one with a 2012 angle could go down well.<\/li>\n<li>Visit places of importance in my genealogy.<\/li>\n<li>Climb a mountain \/ visit Nepal or Tibet.<\/li>\n<li>See <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Julian Cope\" rel=\"homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.headheritage.co.uk\/\">Julian Cope<\/a> live.<\/li>\n<li>Immerse myself in Japan for a week.<\/li>\n<li>Witness an eclipse.<\/li>\n<li>Feel a (harmless) earthquake.<\/li>\n<li>Have a pint and meal at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theoldforge.co.uk\/\">The Old Forge<\/a>, Britain&#8217;s remotest pub, after <em>walking <\/em>there.<\/li>\n<li>Be in close contact with gorillas\/elephants\/penguins for a while &#8211; or some other cool species that isn&#8217;t so obvious!<\/li>\n<li>Visit second cousins I am barely aware of&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Traverse the Amazon, or the Dari\u00e9n Gap.<\/li>\n<li>Walk a long way&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But of course your interest in my list will be slight, if at all &#8211; it is <strong>YOUR LIST <\/strong>that matters. In a <em>post-SHTF <\/em>world, what are the things you would like to share with youngsters? What stories and anecdotes would best suit the situation? What are the positive aspects of today&#8217;s world that you would miss?
