Lawrence E. The ancient Maya city of Holtun, or Head of Stone is one step closer to being excavated:<\/p>\n

Using GPS and electronic distance-measurement technology last year, the researchers plotted the locations and elevations of a seven-story-tall pyramid, an astronomical observatory, a ritual ball court, several stone residences, and other structures.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
At present the entire city lies beneath jungle and dirt. Archaeologists didn’t know of this buried city until the early 1990s, when they learned of looters stealing giant stucco masks measuring up to ten feet tall. Seems that just the type of inter-galactic message that the cash-strapped SETI has long searched for was picked up by scientists… or perhaps not?<\/p>\n
On October 21, 2004, the NSA approved for release to the public a portion of their NSA Journal Vol. XIV No. 1.\u00a0 This is a report of a presentation given to the NSA by Dr. Howard Campaigne regarding the decoding of extraterrestrial messages that had been received \u201cform outer space\u201d.\u00a0 Apparently, these messages had actually been received via the Sputnik satellite, but no one had any idea how to decode them at the time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The news comes from UFO Digest<\/a>. The official document, that was previously stonewalled<\/em>, can be seen at the NSA website<\/a>. I’m no expert on satellites, but I figure they wouldn’t be seeking signals from away from Earth. And being a Russian satellite, it would have been a transmitted message that was intercepted <\/em>by the Americans. They only thing in the document that suggests an alien source is the world extraterrestrial, which of course means “not from Earth”. Well, that could describe a message being transmitted from space, from a Russian satellite, and such terminology could have been used when satellites were a new thing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
