Survivalists in Florida

May 19, 2012 – 11:49 pm | 2 Comments

Great article in the Miami New Times last week, profiling preppers and survivalists like these folk:
Jorge Villa – after a terrifying experience during Hurricane Andrew he devised his own bunkers, and sells them to folk – some of whom are worried about the end of the Mayan calendar – via his business U.S. Bunkers
Neal Wiseman – moderates a group called the South Florida Survivalist Network, and has a year’s worth of food stored for his family, should the need arise:

Chris Petrovich – prepper for 25 years. He has helped others “cache extra fuel and food, stashed in public-storage units and underground, at intervals on an 800-to-1,200-mile path out of Florida. Amid darkness and chaos, skirting burning sugarcane fields and accidents and roadblocks, they’ll drive from cache to cache toward a secret inland hiding spot, exhausting the last available remnants of the petroleum age.”
While Petrovich himself plans on staying, I agree with …

Clif High on 2012

Submitted by Robert Bast on March 31, 2011 – 12:54 pm3 Comments

Clif High, of Web Bot fame, has written an article on 2012. Specifically he discusses the theories and predictions of Patrick Geryl, and gives us his own take on what will happen to our “expando” planet. Here’s some snippets:

So, in the Expando Planet model, the continuous stream of energy from the Sun goes not only to the surface of the planets, but also to the center of the planets, where, given the correct conditions, and the existence of an active plasma core (Mars, as an aside, has none, and is therefore, a ‘dead’ planet), this energy is transmuted into matter.

…So, in the Expando Planet model of thinking about Earth, the plasma core gets energy steadily from the Sun and as a necessity, must convert this steady stream of energy into matter. Thus if the Expando Planet model is correct, one of the predictable effects would be that the planet would pretty much continuously grow. And that is also what observable, manifesting reality demonstrates. The Earth is slowly growing.

I have spent a lot of time looking into expanding Earth theories, and I’m still not convinced. Clif doesn’t help by suggesting that megalithic sites like Stonehenge were easier to construct because gravity was less back then. Clif – the changes in the last 5,000 would be minuscule!

Further problems for humans will include the direct effect on our consciousness of the solar radiations once the magnetosphere has collapsed. Other issues include physical burns, radiation burns, destruction of crops, loss of life as animals en masse on land, in the air, and under water, are killed by both magnetic waves and radiation from space. Further issues will present themselves in the form of mental problems for those who do survive by hiding from the radiation exposure.

…We are still facing civilization doom in 2011 and 2012. The doom starts the day that the Sun takes out the planetary electrical grid. Patrick Geryl is remarkably correct in all his space and sun focused reasoning, and his worry that October 11, 2011 will be that day is well taken. It can happen at any time now. Given the rapid increase in solar intensity values that Patrick shares at his website, it would seem most likely to occur between October 11,2011, and May of 2012. That NASA is also concerned about solar problems through this period acts as yet more fuel for the necessary paranoia. Further paranoia flares up thinking about the trillions of dollars put into underground shelters by government for the elite. That does not bode well.

Agreed.

I find little value in what Cliff has to say, shit my predictions are way more accurate, and I’m wrong all the time. Cliff has simply taken the work of others and contradicted is position to their theories. Cliff who is no expert, along with the experts, fail to recognize the possibility of sudden events of planetary expansion.

Cliff has been wrong on everything. The web bot project predictions are totally off. The linguistics emails he writes about the web bot are drunken ramblings not worth a cent. Dec 2012 will be like any other day and the doom predictions will not come to be … My take.

  • kirsten says:

Indeed, his so called claims about his “famous” web bot cannot be proven nor are they consistent in accuracy. When “the bot” is right, mostly it is about socio-economical events, which are not difficult to forcast for people who have experience in economics and stock exchange, like his partner George Ure. All his other predictions are based on material taken from studies about climat change and people with no clue about history. Already in the ’80′s people were aware that fossil fuels would be expensive, economy is working in cycles of depression and hausses and in the ’90′s we already knew that climat was going to be different around the years 2020. Easy to forecast that there will be civil unrest during economical depression and there will be more problems with the weather all over the globe.

Probably his ‘web bot’ needed another restart to gain some money…
