Noah’s Ark Finally Discovered?
If you follow my line of thinking, you might just agree with my hypothesis. It starts out by looking at the Bible as a historical record that has been exaggerated for religious purposes, and ends with an amazing find in Iran.
Ask any Biblical skeptic and they will supply you with many apparent contradictions that can be found in the Bible. This one is interesting:
Genesis 7:20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
Fifteen cubits is roughly eight meters. Either the mountains in those times were only eight meters in height, or we have a contradictory statement.
Given that it is physically impossible for mountains to be submerged for a prolonged period, I have investigated the possibility that the supernatural flood was a later addition to the story, an addition that seeks to make the Biblical god as mighty as possible.
Texts such as the Avesta and Gilgamesh predate the Bible by thousands of years, and they also tell stories so similar to that of Noah’s Ark that scholars believe the Biblical story is not the original. By inference, the Biblical Noahs’ Ark is also going to be less factual.
The Zoroastrian Avesta doesn’t describe a ship at all, but rather an underground village.
And Ahura Mazda spake unto Yima, saying: ‘O fair Yima, son of Vivanghat! Upon the material world the evil winters are about to fall, that shall bring the fierce, deadly frost; upon the material world the evil winters are about to fall, that shall make snow-flakes fall thick, even an aredvi deep on the highest tops of mountains. And the beasts that live in the wilderness, and those that live on the tops of the mountains, and those that live in the bosom of the dale shall take shelter in underground abodes.
The dimensions of the underground abode were given as roughly a mile wide and a mile long. The Bible says the ark had three levels. A recent discovery in Iran fits those dimemsions, and I believe it is a strong candidate for the original Noah’s Ark:
Archaeologists believe that a three-story underground city, recently unearthed in central Iran, used to function as a collective shelter for its residents in wake of relentless invasions.
The city, lying beneath the small town of Nushabad near Kashan, features labyrinth-like architectural structures, starting 2.5 meters under the surface and running 18 meters deep. .. The team is now working on two workshops on both ends of the 170-hectare town of Nushabad. They have already concluded the corridors are interconnected through the maze-like city, but they still wonder if the whole complex has three stories.
Photos from Nushabad show that the underground structure is more than primitive tunnels:

Greetings from Anne Caroline Akers author “People of the Light”…
I find this hypothesis more than possible, many myths, legends and scriptures have been changed over time, I am totally facinated…I await to hear of updates…Thankyou
Its fine to be a Bible skeptic but please do your homework when referencing the Bible which includes reviewing at least a few translations…Verse 19 & 20 CLEARLY state that the waters surpassed the mountain tops and went 15cubits FURTHER (than the mountain tops) – 15 cubits doesn’t represent the TOTAL flood water depth. Here is test from Geneva Bilble:
Genisis 7:19/20
The waters prevailed so exceedingly upon the earth, that all the high mountains, that are under the whole heaven, were covered.
Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail, WHEN the mountains were covered.
Peace!
@Al – it depends on the version of the Bible. Different translations differ. Young’s Literal is supposedly the most accurate translation in terms of not altering anything from the Hebrew:
And the waters have been very very mighty on the earth, and covered are all the high mountains which [are] under the whole heavens;
fifteen cubits upwards have the waters become mighty, and the mountains are covered;

Unfortunately I do not know Hebrew, else I’d probably have more to say on the original word used to denote the “ark”.
I do know hebrew and greek, but that’s not important. You miss the point in that the flood myth is universal, and found in every culture. I say myth, but perhaps legend is a better term. One thing is sure that within the cultural memory of mankind a world wide deluge did occur. Incidently the so called earth slippage theory would allow for such a possibility, if the current poles found themselves suddenly in warm climates they would melt rapidy and cause global flooding. keep searching you are not far from the truth.

I could be wrong here, but isn’t there a city like this buried near a famous mountain in Turkey? If so,perhaps they should do a little “note compareing” huh?
