Survivalists in Florida

May 19, 2012 – 11:49 pm | 2 Comments

Great article in the Miami New Times last week, profiling preppers and survivalists like these folk:
Jorge Villa – after a terrifying experience during Hurricane Andrew he devised his own bunkers, and sells them to folk – some of whom are worried about the end of the Mayan calendar – via his business U.S. Bunkers
Neal Wiseman – moderates a group called the South Florida Survivalist Network, and has a year’s worth of food stored for his family, should the need arise:

Chris Petrovich – prepper for 25 years. He has helped others “cache extra fuel and food, stashed in public-storage units and underground, at intervals on an 800-to-1,200-mile path out of Florida. Amid darkness and chaos, skirting burning sugarcane fields and accidents and roadblocks, they’ll drive from cache to cache toward a secret inland hiding spot, exhausting the last available remnants of the petroleum age.”
While Petrovich himself plans on staying, I agree with …

2012 Goes Web 2.0

2012 Goes Web 2.0

Amazon is flooded with 2012 books, it seems like there is a new one every day. Most are novels where the action pivots around that fateful day in Dec 2012, or are re-hashes of the “2012 will be enlightening, but only if enough people put the effort in…” new-age non-fiction.
Those in the know, know that the future of profitable content creation lies in digital media, not printed. In the year 2012, a good proportion of 2012 content will be consumed via eBooks, especially now that the iPad is kicking in. Parallel with that will be webinars and e-conferences, designed to whet the appetite.
To welcome the new direction, consider the following (however, because it is yet to happen, I cannot endorse it):
THE MAYAN CALENDAR PROPHECY “UNPLUGGED” TELE-CONFERENCE CALL – Sunday May 2
Join the conversation and activation with world re-known Mayan Calendar expert Dr Carl Calleman and Sweden’s answer to the Dalai …

New Human Ancestor Increases Odds of Mysterious Elders

New Human Ancestor Increases Odds of Mysterious Elders

My pet theory regarding ancient civilisations, and in particular pyramids, revolves around the concept of “mysterious elders”, a human species more advanced than us in many ways, helping us evolve culturally for selfish reasons.
In the Bible they were known as the Nephilim or the Watchers. In most ancient cultures they were the strangers who arrived and taught all sorts of education, including waterworks, writing, and construction. Perhaps they still exist? Supposedly Neanderthals could walk amongst us unnoticed (if they still existed), so other recent hominid species could also presumably do likewise.
Just like dragons and unicorns, the evidence required is a fossil or two. Fossils are unfortunately quite rare (all fossilised human bones could fit in the back of of a pickup truck…), and if a species was quite low in numbers, we might never find that evidence.
But, as luck would have it, we might have the first evidence for enlightened …

Latest Earth Changes: Not!

Latest Earth Changes: Not!

I’ve received numerous queries regarding the recent earthquakes and volcanoes, from people concerned that they are signs of “earth changes” leading up to 2012…
We humans have a tendency to assign more importance to what is happening right now – from a sports commentator stating that this is the “best game in years”, to gasoline has never been so scarce, to “we’ve never had so much human-to-human violence worldwide”. The reality is that every week there is a “best game in years”, in the 70s we had genuine gasoline rationing, and our nastiest era for humans being violent towards their fellow man was WW2.
And so it is with earthquakes. If we have learned anything from quakes of recent weeks, it is that they have a tendency to cluster. Either one sparks another, or an outside force sparks many.
Here’s a list of the recent quakes above 7.0:
January 3, 2010  Solomon Islands 7.1

2012 Connect Keeps Growing

2012 Connect Keeps Growing

By the time you read this, 2012 Connect, the largest social networking site for 2012ers, will probably have surpassed 1,000 members. Congratulations to all the members who have discovered that, by expressing themselves via blogs, pictures and interaction, have opened up paths that may lead them to join forces with like-minded individuals.
Globally there are numerous instances of alliances, friendships and romances being achieved solely via the social aspects of the Internet. I’m personally aware of several babies that have arisen from 2012ers interacting online (although the conception probably happened in the “real world”).
For anyone awaiting a magical place that will offer survival berths to nice people with no cash but are willing to work hard – now’s the time to get real and do the best you can with who you can (whilst avoiding nut-jobs).

Mammoths Survived the Cataclysm?

Mammoths Survived the Cataclysm?

While research into the global cataclysm of roughly 10,000 years ago regularly mentions the extinction of mammoths, it appears that pockets of these giant creatures survived until more recent times.
The core [soil] samples revealed the local Alaskan fauna at the end of the last Ice Age. The oldest sediments, dated to about 11,000 years ago, contain remnant DNA of Arctic hare, bison, and moose; all three animals were also found in higher, more recent layers, as would be expected. But one core, deposited between 10,500 and 7,600 years ago, confirmed the presence of both mammoth and horse DNA.
The team also developed a statistical model to show that mammoth and horse populations would have dwindled to a few hundred individuals by 8,000 years ago.
The range of 7,600 to 10,500 years ago is substantially earlier than the orthodox extinction era of 12,000 years ago. But that date is tied to the faltering …

2012ers Predict Quake

2012ers Predict Quake

Apr 6, 2010 – 10:42:23 AM – Mitch Battros of Earth Changes Media posts an article with the headline Largest Solar Storm of Cycle 24 – Will Another Quake Follow?
His email to subscribers began by saying:
The most powerful geomagnetic storm since December 2006 struck the Earth on Monday. The solar storm prompted NOAA to issue a Space Weather Advisory on Monday ordering all personnel on the space shuttle and International Space Station to take cover in specially designed compartment shields.
Charged particles come in the form of galactic cosmic rays, gamma rays, solar flares, and CME’s. The Kp Index measures from 1 (mild) to 9 (severe). Monday’s hit measured 7.
For years Mitch has been telling us that the Sun will be the cause of increasing “earth changes” as 2012 approaches.
Meanwhile over at 2012 Forum, also posted on Tuesday April 6, “deanmullen10″ makes the following prediction:
April-May 2010: The next earthquake 7.0 Magnitude …
