Farewell Thumb Knuckle / Prepper Declared Insane

Doomsday Preppers (currently screening on NatGeo in the USA) is reality TV, so of course it includes some drama. And what happened to Tim Ralston certainly wasn’t scripted:

Meanwhile, David Sarti, who also appeared on the show, has been declared insane. Yet it might all come down to his SHTF beliefs.
He visited a cardiologist and after refusing treatment ended up being kept in a psychiatric unit for evaluation – seemingly because the cardiologist felt Sarti was suicidal. You’d like to think a cardiologist wouldn’t be allowed to make such a call! Sarti was consequently released, with no further action taken, except for one very cruel twist: due to his brief stay at a psych facility, he has been deemed by the Tennessee state to be mentally defective and unfit to own a gun. I’ll do my best to out the scams and endorse the reals deal – but please don’t blame me if I call one wrong.

Here’s one to kick things off!

Escape Earth 2012 – fortunately this is easy to judge as being a joke. The price is stupidly cheap, $12.49 for a place on a space ark. And if you look at the Disclaimer page, it says “This site was made to be a funny gag gift and should not be taken seriously. We cannot guarantee anyone’s survival from an apocalyptic event nor do we provide space travel to a new planet. This is a story we created to go along with our product. However, we will happily honor our money back guarantee if you purchase a ticket and do not safely make it to a new planet in the event of a 2012 apocalypse
