Biblical scholar: Rapture on May 21, 2011

January 26th, 2010 by Rob | Posted under christ, rapture.

Interestingly, whereas the Bible Code book is all about encoded information in the Bible predicting events, this prophecy for the date of rapture holds no clues from the Bible except the (supposed) date of Christ’s death, and Harold Camping’s personal interpretation of certain words. Here is how he solved the puzzle:

By Camping’s understanding, the Bible was dictated by God and every word and number carries a spiritual significance. He noticed that particular numbers appeared in the Bible at the same time particular themes are discussed.

The number 5, Camping concluded, equals “atonement.” Ten is “completeness.” Seventeen means “heaven.” Camping patiently explained how he reached his conclusion for May 21, 2011.

“Christ hung on the cross April 1, 33 A.D.,” he began. “Now go to April 1 of 2011 A.D., and that’s 1,978 years.”

Camping then multiplied 1,978 by 365.2422 days – the number of days in each solar year, not to be confused with a calendar year.

Next, Camping noted that April 1 to May 21 encompasses 51 days. Add 51 to the sum of previous multiplication total, and it equals 722,500.

Camping realized that (5 x 10 x 17) x (5 x 10 x 17) = 722,500.

Or put into words: (Atonement x Completeness x Heaven), squared.

“Five times 10 times 17 is telling you a story,” Camping said. “It’s the story from the time Christ made payment for your sins until you’re completely saved.

Convoluted, but I can see why it would be compelling to some Christians. Like many modern-day prophets, this isn’t his first prediction. His previous prediction for Christ’s return (Sept. 6, 1994) was wrong because he made some mathematical errors

The Bible is absolutely clear that Christ's coming will be like the days of Noah.

Lu 17:26* And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27* They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Did God tell Noah the date of the flood before it came? Yes! First, God gave Noah 120 years to build the ark (Gen 6:3) . Second, God told Noah to enter the ark 7 days before the flood (Gen 7:4). This 7 day period is identified with the 7000 years from 4990 BC (the date of the flood) to 2011 AD (see II Peter 3 concerning 1 day =1000 years principle). Additionally, in Genesis 7:24, we read that Noah's flood destroyed the world over a period of 150 days. Likewise, God will destroy the world over a period of 5 months (Revelation 9:5).

When God told Noah to build the arc. HE did not tell him how long it was going to take before He sent the rains-

    • Light says:

Are you kidding me?!? He indeed gave Noah the exact day when HE was going to bring the flood.
You should be more careful of what you say about the one and only MIGHTY ETERNAL EVERLASTING CREATOR JESUS CHRIST GOD ALMIGHTY.

  7. Lina says:

God in no wise told Noah at the beginning how long his ordeal would be. Plus -there IS no rapture, folks; that was a doctrine hatched by the Catholic churc during the middle of the 19th century.
