The anti-survivalist actions of some authorities in the USA are getting much worse. In recent times we have seen the malicious use of zoning laws to thwart survival plans, and we have seen many of things survivalists do listed as suspicious (in a terrorism way). This most recent news is of special concern for anyone who has a private bunker:
After getting dressed Mr. Del Rio went and opened his front door. He was immediately bum rushed by the Austin Police Department’s SWAT Team and then detained and interrogated for over 10 hours.
His crime: on his property was an old Cold War bunker that Mr. Del Rio had converted into a workshop.
You’d think the interrogation would have been enough punishment, but unfortunately the authorities:

What if the end date of the ancient Mayan Long Count calendar was not meant to be taken literally?
The first question you need to ask is this: Dec 21 is also the Winter Solstice (in the northern hemisphere) – the darkest day of the year, so it is a coincidence or deliberate?
The second question is, if the date is deliberate, then why?
If there is a scientific basis to the Long Count calendar, if it is ultimately reflecting a scientific prediction, then there are still more questions:
Is there anything about a Winter Solstice than can cause a catastrophe?
Could an ancient culture predict a catastrophe, thousands of years away, accurate to a single day?
Or is Dec 21, 2012 a symbolic date for a scientific prediction for approximately Dec 2012?

I check this web page all the time:

It lists every earthquake greater than 5.0 for the last week, and it is updated in real-time.
On most days there’s less than five quakes listed, and often just one or two. Today there are 39!
To be fair, when there’s a really big quake, a lot of aftershocks will make the list – so to account for them the list really looks like this:

looks good, however your entrance should not directly enter your shelter, plan a corridor with a ninety degree turn in it leading to a vertical exit(ladder). the length of it depends on the room you have and or costs, also the last three feet before entering your shelter should be reduced in size, down to a crawl or so. there are inexpensive ways to achieve this one of which can be sand bags with concrete mix added, simply stack them and soak them well, as for the roof of it find some flexible ply wood( door skin) bend it into an arch, place 1/4″ chicken over it and apply concrete, keeping it light at first, then build up some layers add more wire for extra strength. this will go a long way to improve on your security, and help with fallout.
