I'm Stumped by this Chinese Geoglyph

The best suggestion at the forum was that this is something like a quarry, and a large grader was used by someone who was on more then just a random mission:
The difficulty in determining what it is comes from the huge range of existing geoglyphs, that range from modern art like Colonel Sanders and the Firefox logo, to the ancient Nazca Lines. Without inspecting them at ground level, it is very hard to determine age and technique.AstralWalker's talk in Melbourne last month had some slides about GeoGlyphs. It was interesting hearing all the gasps in the audience when he showed the Chinese pyramids...
But this, I have not seen before:

It is in China, near the Mongolian border
It is big - looks like hills etc don't get in the way

There is clearly watershed over it in spots. The dimensions are roughly 1 mile square and the lines themselves average 50 foot wide. I can understand a mock runway and village but a mosaic pattern makes no sense to me even for a bored machine operator.Scroll left when at Google Maps and there is a large square area that might be a clue...

its cool but once i started looking around i found other cool things so while were on this topic mabe someone can shed light on what i see. to start i compare a view of my house from the same distance above just to get a better idea of the ratio of whatever im looking at. unfortunately i just realized i cant add any pictures but if u look closely at the areas miles around that place on google map then u will see ... a perfectly round globe like parking lot...full with cars? trucks? oh and 2 or 3 planes clearly visible in the center... really quite amazing to look at and theres more wonder when u keep looking. i wonder about everything i see on the maps. i wonder how its possible ive seen better drawings of landscapes and maps by people at deviant art. but ... just look close zoom in zoom out all around google maps and the things u will see... theres so much on Earth that deserves an equal explanation. Anyone????
How come ... when the satellite views are altered
(moved "larger" and/or "smaller") there appears to be a specific point at which the "image" appears and/or disappears? Has someone been playing with the "tape"?
Also, the color appears to change at this point, too.
I smell a fraud ... something just ain't right! IMHO, anyhow. -Aurumaster
The truth needs approval? how quaint,,,,
Following the topography with any "device" is just not possible to get a straight line. An indication of someone's straightedge at work here?-Aurumaster
