Ice Age Ended Suddenly in 9703BC

If it is accurate and beyond dispute, we finally have a date we can use. A definitive moment in time in which a global cataclysm may have occurred. And an interesting puzzle for scientists that believe everything happens gradually.

A Danish ice drilling project has conclusively ended the discussion on the exact date of the end of the last ice age.

The extensive scientific study shows that it was precisely 11,711 years ago - and not the indeterminate figure of ‘some’ 11,000 years ago – that the ice withdrew, allowing humans and animals free reign.

“Our new, extremely detailed data from the examination of the ice cores shows that in the transition from the ice age to our current warm, interglacial period the climate shift is so sudden that it is as if a button was pressed”, explains ice core researcher Jørgen Peder Steffensen, Centre for Ice and Climate at NBI at the University of Copenhagen.

As long as this research is not disputed, I shall be using the year 9703 BC as the date for that cataclysm / crustal shift. This fits in very well with Plato's date for the destruction of Atlantis. He said it happened 9000 years before Solon (638 BC–558 BC), which is approximately 9600BC. While it is possible Plato meant precisely 9000 years, it is more likely he meant roughly.

Allan & Delair's wonderful book Cataclysm! uses the date of 9500BC.

Ice cores have shown that glaciers began to form on Mount Kilimanjaro in 9700BC.

A quick search of Google shows evidence of a cataclysm on that date (even though the authors didn't know it...)

9703BC is the new year zero. There was a pole shift. And for some reason, those humans that survived were suddenly much more civilised...

Some "End of the World" Movies

These are being released next year, or have recently been released. Is it just a coincidence that these types of films are coming out so close to 2012?

2012 - from the guy who gave us Independence Day
2012 - written by the guy who gave us the Communion book
City of Ember - survivors in an underground city
The Road - based on a post-apocalypse book by Cormac McCarthy
Autumn - all of us become zombies
Deadland - post WW3, sounds like Mad Max Redux
Wasteland - our pollution causes everything to die
The Last Man - sounds like I Am Legend

I guess that means lots of comedies will top the movie charts?

Russian Professor: Prepare for Great Flood

Igor Kopylov, professor at Moscow Energy Institute, believes that our planet has had its energy balance upset.
A weakening of the Earth's magnetic field was first registered early in the 20th century, and a consistent drop in the speed of rotation, in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It has been established that when the Earth's rotation slows by one second a year, it releases a tremendous amount of heat, hundreds of times the volume of energy released by human industrial activity.

...The Solar System, including the Earth, travels through the Galaxy in spiraling elliptic paths. The cycle time for the larger spiral is 200-210 million years, and for the smaller one, which determines minor galactic cycles, 26,000 years. Correspondingly, half a cycle lasts 130 centuries. This period almost exactly coincides with the date of the last Flood, the occurrence of which was real. The myths and legends of many peoples including that of the Bible recorded the event.

The Flood has been dated rather precisely: at 11,100 BC. If we accept that the civilized society on Earth has been developing for 400,000 years, then this period saw 30 great floods, and we are witnessing the beginnings of the thirty-first flood.

In case you were wondering, leap seconds are currently being added at a rate of 0.6 seconds per year.

Remote Viewing Tibetan Monks

Our crazy friends at India Daily have yet another 2012 news item, this time the source is remote viewing Tibetan Monks:
Between 2010 and 2012, the whole world will get polarized and prepare for the ultimate dooms day. Heavy political maneuvers and negotiations will take place with little progress.

In 2012, the world will start plunging into a total destructive nuclear war.

And at that time something remarkable will happen, says, Buddhist monk of Tibet. Supernatural divine powers will intervene. The destiny of the world is not to self-destruct at this time.

... When asked about recent UFO sightings in India and China, the monks smiled and said the divine powers are watching us all. Mankind cannot and will not be allowed to alter the future to that great extent.

Working Model of Ancient Greek Computer

Fans of ancient technology are probably already aware of the 2,000 year old Antikythera computer from Greece:

According to ancient Roman author Cicero, this device was devised by Archimedes, and working models existed. The above relic proved that such ancient technology existed, and now we can watch a video of a modern-day version of it!

Cosmic Ray Hotspots Located

Researchers working from seven years worth of results from the Los Alamos’ Milagro cosmic-ray observatory have found that the two spots (marked in red above), have been sending us more cosmic rays than would be expected statistically.

Interestingly, these hotspots, located near the constellations of Gemini and Taurus, are very close to Orion - a place well-known to alternative Egyptologists.

The two possibilites presented are:

a) something in that area that we don't presently understand is emitting the cosmic rays

b) something we have not yet discovered is acting like a gravitational lens, making the rays appear to come from those spots

Either way, hopefully in the next 4 years the experts will work out what is going on.

Expert: Food Riots in 2012

Gerald Celente, the CEO of Trends Research Institute, has opinions about the future that should be listened to - just check out the quotes at the bottom of the article, and the list of things he has successfully predicted in the past.

Then consider this:
...is now forecasting revolution in America, food riots and tax rebellions - all within four years, while cautioning that putting food on the table will be a more pressing concern than buying Christmas gifts by 2012.

...Celente says that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts
