Kabbalah and 2012

August 30th, 2008 by Rob | 1 Comment | Filed in jewish, kabbalah

The Jewish calender suggests a similar event to the ancient Mayan calendar, suggests Nina Amir:

…the idea that humanity or the world at large is about to undergo some sort of transformation does not represent a new idea. For instance, the ancient Jewish mystics predict a change as well, but the world transformation they see coming doesn’t happen for another 231 years.

The current Jewish year is 5769, which means it is 227 years out if synch with the Mayan end date. Could they be discusssing the same event, but over thousands of years one party has got their dates wrong?

Philip Coppens on the Crystal Skulls

August 26th, 2008 by Rob | No Comments | Filed in crystal skulls

One of my favorite writers has a new article out, all about the Crystal Skulls. It’s pretty rare to find a scholarly article on the skulls, let alone one that doesn’t take sides. It presents the possibility of them being fakes, but provides lots of fresh information that might inspire you to believe they are genuinely ancient:

Walsh and some of her colleagues have largely presented Boban as a charlatan, but they’ve failed to report that Boban was known to have owned genuinely ancient artefacts as well as a collection of rare books and early Mexican manuscripts. He had even written a scientific study, “Documents pour server à l’histoire du Mexique” (“Documents to serve the history of Mexico”) (1891). Furthermore, he personally crusaded against frauds and fakes, such as in 1881 when he spoke out against forgeries that were being made in the suburbs of Mexico City. Would he shoot himself in the foot that same year by listing a fraudulent crystal skull in his catalogue?
Mentions of the German connection and claims of Boban’s dishonesty come from a single letter from one of Boban’s competitors, Wilson Wilberforce Blake. He wrote how they should buy from him, not Boban, who was “not honest”, and he made accusations that the skull Boban had sold was a forgery, insinuating that the skull had been made in Germany instead. However, no evidence was ever produced for any of these claims, and it is clear that Blake had an obvious motive as to why he wanted to smear Boban’s character: he was specifically after Boban’s share of the market.

…as one skull, owned by Mexican Norma Redo, is mostly notorious, at least for some, as the skull that supports a large crucifix on its top. The skull shows similar “evidence” of wheelwork, but from his analysis archaeologist Dr Andrew Rankin argued that the skull was sculpted from the same crystal as that of the crystal goblet from tomb no. 7 at Monte Albán, which is an uncontested archaeological find.

…and a decade after the 1970 tests he added to his previous observations: namely, that the quartz is very hard, measuring nine out of a possible 10 on Moh’s scale, meaning that only a diamond would be able to cut it. The quartz, though of one piece, was furthermore composed of three or four growth phases, each with a different axis. Cutting it would have been extremely difficult, as hitting upon a new axis might shatter the crystal if the cutter was not careful. (This is one of the main reasons why larger diamonds are more valuable; it is not solely the stone but the workmanship involved that makes large diamonds expensive.)

Giant Wombat News

Up to 9 feet (3 meters) long and 70 inches (180 centimeters) tall, some of the marsupials weighed as much as a pickup truck and stood as tall as a person. Others were much smaller, about the weight of a compact car.

The news this week is that the huge difference in size is just gender-related, and that these wombats are of the same species.

This is just a reminder – 10-12,000 years ago the world was full of mega-fauna, and they all died out rapidly, in two areas – Asia/Australia and the Americas. Species in Africa survived. In a pole shift scenario there will be a fulcrum point where disturbances are relatively low, and 90 degrees away there will be chaos. Find a globe and use Angola and Hawaii as the fulcrum points, then spin the globe slowly. You’ll see the fastest movement is in Asia/Australia and the Americas, where mega-fauna went extinct.

Fatigue = Pole Shift?

This news item at Physical Review Focus:

An asphalt roadway will crack after thousands of trucks pass, even if none is especially heavy. Engineers have long observed that the number of repeated stress cycles before failure is mathematically related to the stress in each cycle. Now in the 7 March Physical Review Letters theorists relate this law to accumulating damage at the microscale.

…Under steady and prolonged stress, microscopic fibers constantly break as they reach their individual damage thresholds, so the material’s lifetime is directly connected with the way in which damage accumulates over time.

…reminded me of the pole shift theory of James Bowles:

If enough tension is happening within our planet, and it is constant, then one day something must give, slip or break. Everything that suffers stress will eventually crack. In our planet’s case it would be the semi-plastic attachment of the crust to the asthenosphere. The stress would also create heat, and this could be a simple explanation for volcanoes – an outlet valve for all the heat created by the stresses within the earth. Bowles points out that an easy way to break a piece of wire is to bend it backwards and forwards, over and over, until it snaps. The ends of the broken wire will be quite hot – heat being a by-product of stress.

It is the most simple, believable idea I have come across for what might what cause a Pole Shift.

David Flynn – Math Magician

Any book that mentions 2012 and breaks into the Top 100 at Amazon is certainly worth a look. And while I feel it is my duty to read everything on 2012, I figure I mightn’t like this one much

I have not read this book (still in pre-release), but from his work online I suspect that it is yet another case of conjuring proof from numbers.

On his website David writes:

“This is why the number 33 and the compass and square are such important symbols of the illumined elite. 33.33 degrees of the great circle of the earth represents 2012 nautical miles. Mount Hermon in Phoenicia, the first location of extraterrestrial influence with man, lies precisely at 33.33° north 33.33° east … 2,012 miles from the equator and 2,012 miles from the prime meridian. To be completely accurate, the number of nautical miles in 33.33 degrees of the earth is 2012 “.9″ This corresponds to the year and date that the ancient Mayans of middle America believed their calendar will end, December 21st, 2012.”

In an article he writes:

“The impact area near Roswell lays 33° north latitude, at a distance 2,012 miles from the equator. When the latitude of the impact site 33° north, is multiplied by the universal mathematical constant PI, (3.1415926572…) the result is 104°, the longitude of the impact site.”

Well, some quick web detective work discovers:

– “33.33 degrees of the Great Circle”… there are 60 nautical miles to a degree, so that equals 1999.8 nautical miles.

– According to Wikipedia, Mount Hermon is located at 33°24′N, 35°51′E.

– 33 x 3.141592 = 103.6 – that’s quite a way from the crash site at 104.52806W

It doesn’t add up!

Has Earth gone bonkers? Err, no.

End of the World, Shit Hits the Fan, Doomsday – whatever you call it, people are getting more and more concerned that the time is near.

And we see signs everywhere. Famine. War. Earthquakes. The time must be very close, for everything is getting much worse.

Isn’t it?

Unfortunately it is a human trait to consider your own world, and your own time, to be of more importance & significance than other worlds or times. For example, today’s weather is more important to you than the weather of 191 days ago.

Kelemen suspects people are struck by similar coincidences in nature and “probably don’t make a note of it when there is an earthquake and no volcano. It is only when these things are happening clusters that it makes an impression on you.”

He pointed out that you can use a computer to generate random numbers and plot them graphically and see patterns and clustering. Clearly though, there is no natural or scientific phenomenon behind those figures.

…The number of reported natural disasters globally has been on a fast rise since the 1960s. EM-DAT disasters are up from about 120 in 1980 to more than 400 in 2007.

But the increase has nothing to do with the planet. Rather, the rise is the result better monitoring and reporting of natural disasters.

Human evolution speeding up?

August 8th, 2008 by Rob | No Comments | Filed in Evolution

The pace of change accelerated about 40,000 years ago and then picked up even more with the advent of agriculture about 10,000 years ago, the study says.

…The biggest changes have come since the end of the last ice age, about 10,000 years ago, which opened up new environments for the quickly expanding human population to grow from millions to billions.

More people mean more mutations, Harpending noted.

“You are also giving them the potential to be adaptive mutations,” said Brian Verrelli, who studies population genetics and evolution at Arizona State University in Tempe and was not involved in the research.

Hmmm…

Evolution has speed up since 10,00 years ago – for me this means since the last global cataclysm.

“More people means more mutations”. How about, more cosmic rays meant more mutations!

The Geoglyphs of Teohuanaco

Although this appears to be an amazing discovery, I can’t help but be a little bit sceptical… There seems to be no on-the-ground verification of these lines and shapes, and for them not to be discovered until this year seems strange to me.

Image8 The Geoglyphs of Teohuanaco

“This satellite image (above) is a portion of the Andean foothills surrounding Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, South America. It is a small sample of a vast network of patterns that surround the lake and extend for more than one hundred miles south into the Bolivian desert. The patterns display geometric repetition and intelligent design. There are interlocking rectangular cells and mounds, perfectly straight lines and tree like arrays that are uncharacteristic with natural erosion. These cover every topographical feature of the high plateau surrounding the lake, over flood plains, hills, cliffs and mountains. Although these geoglyphs are remarkable in their obvious strangeness, what is more astounding is that they have remained in obscurity until now.”

I’d love to see these in person, talk to the locals… Until then, I’ll consider that there’s either an easy answer, or they’ll be harder to crack than the Nazca Lines.
