Great Example of a Gamma Ray Burst's power
7.5 billion years ago, 7.5 billion light years from us, a star exploded.
The light from this gamma ray burst took until last month to be reach Earth. For a couple of hours this explosion was visible to the naked eye, making it the most distant thing a human has ever seen unaided.
Consider the power behind such a burst, to be visible from the other end of the universe. And wonder how much it could harm you if it occured much closer to home.

I don't think that 7.5 billion years ago is the same as 7.5 billion light years away.The first is time and the second is distance.
if the star was 7.5 billion light years away, it's take the light from the explosion 7.5 billion years to reach earth. so the statement was accurate.
Here's something to really concider, alot of researchers and geologist make back and forth claims sa to what killed off the dinosoars..funny thing is half beleive it to be a giant meteorite or comet..even so I find that hard to believe, since the crater would of had to of been termendously large the 1/3 size of U.S. to cause a mass destruction all over the world in loss and distinction of the dinosoar. And in most cases of large craters...no meteorite rock is found. My theory behind the the disappearance is the same thing that'll happen in 2012..The earth will be in alignment which will cause termendous gravitational and polar shifts. ..beyond our comperhension. Here's another therory. Solar flares...what the human race has known and seen so far is tiny compared to what the power of the sun is capable of..Look back on 2003 where a flare actully cut a trench into Iceland..or was it greenland, still that was on a small scall.

I beleive it has already happened once..and the magnetic poles are already being effected now with large earth quakes, tusunamis and remeber the 319 tornados in a one week span in the US..beleive it, it's getting closer than you think. Most of us know little about quantum physics, but it's properties are uncomperhensive at times.
Pick an eschatological reference and stick to it, 'thehawk' the bible is nothing but a collection of assyrian and mesopotamian/egyptian myths collected into a newer, bowdlerized form accessible to and readable by a bunch of illiterate sheep-herders aka the israelites. In fact, those myths all refer to astronomical phenomena. But I digress. The crater has already been identified, near the Yucatan penninsula.. through thermal imaging a crater that is almost the size you described has been identified. Earth alignments with cosmic bodies have little to no effect. The effect of gravity is equal to the distance of the object squared.. meaning even when the syzygy occurs (for example when all the planets line up) .. no noticeable effect is noted. The 2012 will bring a change, don't doubt it. However, it will be a massive spiritual change and an awakening. This 'world as we know it' will end. Take an example from the 13th tarot card, the death card. To some this card looks like a bad omen, to others a signal of a new beginning. Time is cyclical, not linear. This failed experiment in physical comfort at the expense of our collective conscience and souls will come to an end, in fact it is already coming to an end. The earth cannot sustain the current level of resource use at its current population. A die-off is certain at this point. To some, this looks amazingly terribly bad. To others, for example, -me-... 4 billion human beings dying off the planet looks like a fresh start, a chance for Gaia to catch her breath. If I'm one of those 4 billion so be it. It's time to stop presuming that we as human beings are anything other than another animal at best, and anything better than a parasite at worst. The decline and fall of western civilization (read: global capitalism and resource rape) of planet earth... should be a welcome thing for people who hold a higher moral frame of reference. That is, for those who feel that without a planet, none of us will survive. This means that a trade-off of human lives for the future security of our ecosystem should not only be welcomed as it approaches, but should be encouraged to take place as soon as possible. You can help by doing absolutely nothing right now. That is, nothing to try and stave it off. The best thing humans can do right now is encourage the collapse and chaos to occur sooner. A frog placed in a lukewarm pan of water that is slowly heated will sit there until it boils to death. The quicker we can increase the 'heat' that we are collectively feeling, the better. (Perhaps we'll get some sense in our heads and either jump out of the pan.. eg colonize space as quickly as possible being that we finally realize our nature is a destructive, resource-raping one and not a tendency to 'live in harmony' with our environment... or TURN OFF THE HEAT!.. eg die off, stop wasting our resources, allow scientists to govern our countries, toss religions out and make them illegal. If 'Jesus' or 'Shiva' for that matter is coming to 'wipe the slate clean' why bother doing anything? If you want to live in a superstitious shadow world of mythology there should be no place for you in the coming years. People should not be allowed to indoctrinate their children or anyone else in foolish superstitious myth-based philosophies. Science and good-sense will finally put the last nail in the coffin on superstition (ie religion) come 2012. This is -my- prediction.
