Gamma Ray Burst from Nowhere!
The current theory holds that that gamma ray bursts like GRB 070125 are given off by super-jumbo-sized stars that run out of fuel and violently collapse to form black holes, explains Neil Gehrels, principal investigator of NASA's Swift telescope.Yet another space nasty to worry about. If it doesn't come from a star we can see, then the possibility exists that we can be zapped from one that is either a star we cannot see, or not a star at all. More at Discovery.com
Such huge stars can only be created in very gas and dust-rich parts of galaxies where lots of other stars are also being born. So it makes no sense to find such a star living and dying in the empty space between galaxies.

Heh, as 2012 fast approaches, I think we will be seeing a lot more of these kind of discoveries.
I like the idea of your book 2012 I hope that you publish it soon. The anticipation of Dec. 21 2012 is outstanding, what will happen to us as the planets and sun align, will the poles shift as they have before millions of years ago? Who knows. We need to develop a way to harness the power of these gamma ray burst.
Earth To Be Destroyed By A Gamma Ray Burst In 2012 !
Is it a done deal ? The Maya, Nostradameus and the Bible codes predict an end to times on December 21, 2012. The Earth is in alignment with the Galatic core on that date.
The Galactic core contains a huge black hole 35,000 light years away from the Earth.
If a star fell into this black hole 34,996 and 9 months ago the light from the Gamma Ray Burst would get to our planet on December 21, 2012. It would be a done deal that a disaster would take place. The Galatic alignment of the Earth with the plane of the galaxy would be a necessity since a star that was going to fall in the central galatic black hole would be on the galatic plane and emit a Gamma Ray Burst along that plane in alignment with the Earth.
On the lighter side is this the reason why Vice President Cheney keeps on saying "deficits do not matter", since he knows the world will soon end.
