Global Warming: Is it just the Sun?
My opinion: some scientists think it is, most think it isn't, but all are just educated guesses... which means it could just be the Sun, and this means that the Sun could conceivably do something unpredictable (by us today) in 2012...
In what could be the simplest explanation for one component of global warming, a new study shows the Sun's radiation has increased by .05 percent per decade since the late 1970s.
The increase would only be significant to Earth's climate if it has been going on for a century or more, said study leader Richard Willson, a Columbia University researcher also affiliated with NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies.
The Sun's increasing output has only been monitored with precision since satellite technology allowed necessary observations. Willson is not sure if the trend extends further back in time, but other studies suggest it does.
"This trend is important because, if sustained over many decades, it could cause significant climate change," Willson said.
In a NASA-funded study recently published in Geophysical Research Letters, Willson and his colleagues speculate on the possible history of the trend based on data collected in the pre-satellite era.
"Solar activity has apparently been going upward for a century or more," Willson told SPACE.com today.

FYI, the world is not ending. I have done hours of research on the mayan calender. The mayan predicted a change in the atmosphere, an alinement with the milky way and 2 other galaxies. in 2012 it will be the mayan 6th world. change will happen, but not death. It is said that the days will be 16 hours instead of 24, that the technological advancements will be beyond what we know, that we will have gone beyond time and money, and our DNA will be "upgraded". We are in an apocolyse right now, a transition between the 5th and 6th worlds. The alignment will occur on December 12th, 2012 at exactly 11:11 P.M. There will be no floods or hurricanes. No Tsunamis, just change. Maybe instead of freaking others out, maybe you should study more into this and understand the concepts really set fourth by the mayans.
I'm totally interested in learning more about 2012. Do you have any valid websites for me to visit? What about books?
I read the book Apocalypse 2012 by Lawrence E Joseph. It is a great read and full of useful information. I recommend it 100%!!!

"Hours of research" gets you nothing, certainly not understanding. Try "years" then you can act as if you know something! It's December 21st btw, not the 12th, and it's certainly NOT at 11.11am. That's New Age BS along with the DNA upgrade crap.
The Mayans have no idea what will happen, "transformation" could mean anything. However, there are hundreds of other cultures around the world with prophecies for this date, and they are more inclined to the 'catastrophic'. Add in the science of a possible magnetic pole reversal; Paul LaViolettes theory of Galactic Explosions (seen as a 'blue star' which is reminiscent of the Hopi's "Blue Star Kachina") and I wouldn't be too confident there'll be no catastrophe in store.
There is also a Venus Transit in June 2012 - Mayans were very interested in tracking those - and the last one was in 2004, followed in the December by the Sumatra earthquake and Tsunami. There's a huge Solar Maximum scheduled for December 2012, which at the very least will affect electronic communications and satellites.
Maybe YOU should be studying more instead of coming out with the 'airy-fairy' BS and presuming you know the answers after just "hours of research". Geez.
