Controversial Bridge for Machu Picchu

The 80-metre long Carilluchayoc bridge, which crosses the Vilcanota river near the base of the 15th-Century Inca citadel, is to be inaugurated in February, despite a court order prohibiting its construction and protests from the government and environmentalists. BBC
Currently the only way of getting to Machu Picchu from Cuzco is a $70+ train ride. The new bridge will enable tourists to get there by bus.

The site currently receives 2500 visitors each day, and the new bridge could increase that number to 7500 - too many for the site to handle, some say.
