Was Lot’s wife zapped by cosmic rays?
From Wikipedia:
When the sins of the Sodomites and of the neighboring cities had called down the vengeance of God to punish and destroy them, two angels were sent to Sodom to forewarn Lot of the dreadful catastrophe about to happen. The angels took Lot, his wife, and his daughters by hand and drew them forcibly out of their house, saying, “Save yourselves with all haste. Look not behind you. Get as fast as you are able to the mountain, unless you be involved in the calamity of the city.” Lot entreated the angels, who consented that he might retire to Zoar, which was one of the five doomed cities. His wife, looking back on Sodom, was turned into a pillar of salt.
Lot left Zoar and retired with his two daughters to a cave in an adjacent mountain. In Gen. 19:30-38, Lot’s daughters incorrectly believed they were the only females to …
Interplanetary “Day After Tomorrow?”
This 3-page article from Richard C. Hoagland & David Wilcock, as well as proclaiming a new model for physics, lists these “earth changes” for the other bodies in our solar system:
Sun: More activity since 1940 than in previous 1150 years, combined
Mercury: Unexpected polar ice discovered, along with a surprisingly strong intrinsic magnetic field … for a supposedly “dead” planet
Venus: 2500% increase in auroral brightness, and substantive global atmospheric changes in less than 30 years
Earth: Substantial and obvious world-wide weather and geophysical changes
Mars: “Global Warming,” huge storms, disappearance of polar icecaps
Jupiter: Over 200% increase in brightness of surrounding plasma clouds
Saturn: Major decrease in equatorial jet stream velocities in only ~20 years, accompanied by surprising surge of X-rays from equator
Uranus: …
New Fictional Short Film – “The Longest Night – 2012″
The Longest Night – 2012

It’s the 23rd December 2012, It’s been dark for 42 hours, the world is in chaos, is this the end of the human race…? Sci Fi Drama based around the Mayan Prophecies and the end date on the 21st December 2012. Written, Directed & Produced by Zachary Denman
Beware – gamma-ray bursts could fry us!
In the new research, Douglas Galante and Jorge Ernesto Horvath of the University of São Paolo, Brazil, argued that gamma-ray bursts could shine their lethal effects across a whole galaxy, and damage life over greater distances still. The study is to appear in a forthcoming issue of the International Journal of Astrobiology.
The bursts could cause “global environmental changes and biospheric damage” even at distances five times the Milky Way’s width, they wrote.
Gamma-ray bursts are thought to emerge mainly from the poles of a collapsing star. This creates two, oppositely-shining beams of radiation shaped like narrow cones. Planets not lying in these cones would be comparatively safe; the chief worry is for those that do.
Galante and Horvath identified three aspects of gamma-ray bursts as particularly deadly.
The first is a flash of gamma rays, the highest-energy form of light. The flash can imperil even the most radiation-resistant organisms known, the bacterium …
Frozen Smoke to protect us in 2012?
I doubt there is any info online about how well this material could protect us from cosmic rays, but it feels like it could…
Aerogel, one of the world’s lightest solids, can withstand a direct blast of 1kg of dynamite and protect against heat from a blowtorch at more than 1,300C.
Controversial Bridge for Machu Picchu
The 80-metre long Carilluchayoc bridge, which crosses the Vilcanota river near the base of the 15th-Century Inca citadel, is to be inaugurated in February, despite a court order prohibiting its construction and protests from the government and environmentalists. BBC
Currently the only way of getting to Machu Picchu from Cuzco is a $70+ train ride. The new bridge will enable tourists to get there by bus.
The site currently receives 2500 visitors each day, and the new bridge could increase that number to 7500 – too many for the site to handle, some say.
Russian Bunkers
Since the end of the Cold War in 1991, U.S. intelligence sources believe the Russian government has pumped more than $6 billion into Yamantau alone, to construct a sprawling underground complex that spans some 400 square miles.
In 1998, in a rare public comment, then-Commander of the U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) Gen. Eugene Habinger, called Yamantau
“a very large complex — we estimate that it has millions of square feet available for underground facilities. We don’t have a clue as to what they’re doing there.”
It is believed to be large enough to house 60,000 persons, with a special air filtration system designed to withstand a nuclear, chemical or biological attack. Enough food and water is believed to be stored at the site to sustain the entire underground population for months on end.
“The only potential use for this site is post-nuclear war…” — Rep. Roscoe Bartlett
Bartlett is one of the handful of members …
Homer vs Cerne Abbas
A 180ft chalk figure of Homer Simpson painted beside the famous Cerne Abbas giant in Dorset hasn’t gone down well with the Pagan community.
Springfield’s own favourite rude man, dressed only in his briefs and brandishing his beloved doughnut, was painted on the hill to promote the new Simpsons movie.
But Pagans are praying for rain to wash away the display next to the Cerne giant, which is considered to be an ancient symbol for fertility.
Ann Bryn-Evans, joint Wessex district manager for The Pagan Federation, said: “We were hoping for some dry weather but I think I have changed my mind.
“We’ll be doing some rain magic to bring the rain and wash it away.”
She added: “I’m amazed they got permission to do something so ridiculous. It’s an area of scientific interest.”
The Cerne Abbas giant is the largest figure on a hill in Britain, but it is unknown when it first appeared.

More (actually less) on the movie based on "2012: The War for Souls"
“It’s a book we just set up at Warner Brothers by Whitley Strieber who wrote The Hunger and Wolfen and who’s also a famous alien abductee. It is his latest theory of what’s going to go down in 2012 based on the Mayan calendar and based on factual astronomical convergences are going to happen on that day, said Roberto Orci. “We really like the initial concept. We always try to be extremely free with what the dictates of the live action story need to be. If it ends up being extremely similar to the book, great. But we don’t stick to anything just because it’s there. We question everything.”
So basically, none of us have read the book yet, and the movie will be somewhere between a precise rendition of the book, and nothing like it. It may, or may not, be directed by Michael Bay. More info.

Author Selects Survival Spot for 2012
Lawrence Joseph, author of Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization’s End, says that Jerusalem, Angkor Wat, the Vatican and Mecca might be natural choices but, no, “of all the sacred sites in the world, none embodies the sacred Mayan values of service to humanity and Mother Earth like the town of Berea, Kentucky.”
On the face of it, sounds a little bit suspect! (full story here). Two things stand out about this town:
1) It is named after a biblical town where the people “received the Word with all readiness of mind.”
2) It is a dry town – no alcohol
I can’t see any scientific reason why it should be the best place on Earth to build your bunker.
