Meteorite Illness in Peru
If this story gets pulled, the X-Files are really out there. Or it could just be a case of rural hypochondria?
A meteorite crashes in Peru, "in the high Andes department of Puno in the Desaguadero region, near the border with Bolivia".

Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a "strange odor," local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP.
Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said.
Rescue teams and experts were dispatched to the scene, where the meteorite left a 100-foot-wide (30-meter-wide) and 20-foot-deep (six-meter-deep) crater, said local official Marco Limache.
"Boiling water started coming out of the crater and particles of rock and cinders were found nearby. Residents are very concerned," he said.

Interesting blog. You are obviously entitled to believe what you believe... but it sounds like you're making a mountain out of a molehill and carrying this 2012 Mayan apocalypse a little bit too far. Saying your blog contains "science" is a stretch.
It's interesting how nothing more has been heard about this, could be that the meteorite just boiled off some existing compund in the soil and made a gas.
So what form do you believe the Eschaton will take? I'm starting to get a bit more wary of the 2012 information by the day
Strange how we havn't heard anything else about this. It would be my guess that the meteorite vapourised a compound in the soil and created a gas.
The 2012 info is interesting, what form do you think that the Eschaton will take? I am starting to doubt the story myself, there are a heap of these recorded over time that have fizzled, will this one be any different?
Nice blog you have here. Could 250,000 Mayans be wrong?
