Spend now, pay later (or in the case of 2012, never!)

A tongue in cheek article is suggesting that we throw common sense away, wreck our credit history, and spend big, big, big... because if everything ends in 2012 it won't matter. I've recently had similar thoughts, as a means of buying a used missile silo in the US. The fact that I haven't done so is evidence of me having no certainty of something bad happening in 2012 (yet).
