Latest Fastest Spinning Neutron Star

February 28th, 2007 by Rob | Posted under Uncategorized.

As reported here, recently a star was recorded rotating at an extraordinary 716 times per second. But the new record is now 1122 rotations per second!

This is faster than scientists thought possible, so they are thinking that this neutron star might have an interior composed of exotic matter.

This further reinforces how little we know about these stars, which means the possibility of them sending damaging radiation in the direction if Earth is as strong as ever.
