Survivalists in Florida

May 19, 2012 – 11:49 pm | One Comment

Great article in the Miami New Times last week, profiling preppers and survivalists like these folk:
Jorge Villa – after a terrifying experience during Hurricane Andrew he devised his own bunkers, and sells them to folk – some of whom are worried about the end of the Mayan calendar – via his business U.S. Bunkers
Neal Wiseman – moderates a group called the South Florida Survivalist Network, and has a year’s worth of food stored for his family, should the need arise:

Chris Petrovich – prepper for 25 years. He has helped others “cache extra fuel and food, stashed in public-storage units and underground, at intervals on an 800-to-1,200-mile path out of Florida. Amid darkness and chaos, skirting burning sugarcane fields and accidents and roadblocks, they’ll drive from cache to cache toward a secret inland hiding spot, exhausting the last available remnants of the petroleum age.”
While Petrovich himself plans on staying, I agree with …

Latest Fastest Spinning Neutron Star

As reported here, recently a star was recorded rotating at an extraordinary 716 times per second. But the new record is now 1122 rotations per second!
This is faster than scientists thought possible, so they are thinking that this neutron star might have an interior composed of exotic matter.
This further reinforces how little we know about these stars, which means the possibility of them sending damaging radiation in the direction if Earth is as strong as ever.

See y’all in Ethiopia!

I’ve not read this book yet, but apparantly it says that I have selected 2012 as my place to shelter in 2012:
refuses to acknowledge his debt to the Diagnosis2012 website – he mentions it once, (p.123). saying that it is run by “Robert Bast, the Australian doomsday enthusiast”, and that it is “devoted to trumpeting the upcoming 2012 calamity”. It says also the Robert Bast has chosen Ethiopia as his destination for 2012. Here, he gets him confused with Andy McCracken, of the Exodus 2006 website

Rev. 20:12

I’m surprised I’ve not heard of this before. Forget the Bible Code, here is a non-coded prediction for 2012:
Rev 20:12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Same old inaccuracies about Dec 21 2012

A new article on the possibility of a doomsday in Dec 2012 has appeared online. Unfortunately it adds nothing new, offering solar flares as the cause of chaos, and has a few inaccuracies…
1) “the next “solar maximum” event will coincide with December 21, 2012″ – well, the date keeps changing, but is typically 2011 or 2012, but no scientist would dare name a precise date, it just isn’t possible to call it with any sort of accuracy.
2) “On the same day when our Sun is at it’s solar maximum, something will happen that’s never happened before — the ecliptic of our solar system will intersect with the Glactic plane, called the “Galactic Equator” of the Milky Way!” – not true, the aligment occurs over a few decades, mostly before 2012, and unfortunately the popular meme says it happens on a precise day, a great distortion of the facts

Wired: What We Don’t Know

For anyone who wants to criticise my theories as being unscientific, I present a number of questions at the core of my theories, highlighted by Wired as puzzles scientists are yet to solve (meaning anyone could be right, even me!)
What happened to the Neanderthals? What is the purpose of noncoding DNA?Why do the poles reverse? What causes ice ages?
